Description

Alix Janta-Polczynski and Lauren Estelle Jones initiated a series of meetings between a small group of female artists and curators (themselves included) based in London and Paris between 2015-2018, they called themselves The Modern Penelope Collective. They took it in turns to host dinners in their homes, over which they bonded about their art practices, projects, dreams, ideas and lives. This allowed for a truly deep relationship to bloom between the core members of the group giving the projects that they worked on together a tender richness and cohesion. The collective disbanded in 2019 following the death of one of the group, Nancy Fouts, and the dispersion of the remaining members across the globe, although they remain close and supportive friends.
