About
Lauren Estelle Jones is the co-founder of the contemporary art organisations Art Barter and Alteria Art and acts as an independent curator, consultant, and advisor. She works internationally to initiate projects featuring emerging and established contemporary artists across creative disciplines, with a focus on visual art and music. She also collaborates closely with institutions and brands to connect them with leading visionaries and to produce high-quality experiential, immersive, and participatory interventions. Her skill set is most effectively showcased when advising clients on building their art collections.
Lauren has a unique perspective due to her unusual trajectory and experience, which bridges multiple creative industries. She worked in fashion, music, photography, and communications before firmly establishing herself in the art world with the co-founding of her first company, Art Barter, in 2009, followed shortly by the launch of its sister production company, Alteria Art, in 2012.
Lauren holds postgraduate diplomas in ‘Professional Photography in Practice’ from the London College of Communication (UAL), 2004, and ‘History of Art and Architecture’ from Birkbeck University, 2008. She consulted for the mental health charity Mind when they launched their new arts fund in 2011, has been on the nominating committee for the Sovereign Arts Foundation Prize, and has been a visiting lecturer at the London College of Fashion (UAL) and SOMA in Mexico City. She was curator in residence at Centro de las Artes de San Agustín in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 2018 and is a Director of The Rock and Roll Public Library.
