Story Time

Story Time started as a monthly story telling night with the hopes of growing voices and building community. From there it has grown into events, art installations and collaborations. The aim of every Story Time project is to create connection.

Jones has been involved in the project as a consultant and producer since 2022 .

‘Story Time Secrets’ supported by ACE in 2022 made up of five components.

1. A public participatory project bringing the local community together through anonymously writing their secrets down and depositing them into postboxes strategecially positioned around Hastings and St.Leonards. The postcards were turned into an A1 poster that was given out to the community as well the original postcards being exhibited as part of an exhibition.

2. An open mic dairy reading night.

3. Free writing and journalling workshops.

4. A curated publication featuring high profile and emerging visual artists and writers following the rules of the Surrealist game “exquisite corspe”.

5. An exhibition and event showcasing the publication and the community’s anonymous secret postcards.

Story Time for Refugee Week in 2023. A collection of performances by refugees and people from migrant background of personal stories based on the theme of ‘compassion’.

Story Time x Stitch For Change x The Refugee Buddy Project in 2024 at De La Warr Pavilion.

Supporting the creation of protest banners and other textile works. Producing a catwalk event and exhibition showcasing the banners and artworks and a story telling evening with poetry and music to celebrate refugee week 2024.
